Benefits Of Vitamin-E

Vitamin-e is a very powerful fat-soluble antioxidant and the benefits of vitamin-e are numerous. It protects cells and tissues from free radicals in our bodies. As we get older our immune system starts to slow down, which makes us more likely to get sick and that in turn makes it harder to fight off serious infections.

Vitamin-e helps support heart health and healthy blood vessels. It can help with:

  • Circulatory and metabolic function
  • Prostate health
  • Complications that can arise with Type II diabetes, such as better control of blood sugar
  • Reducing the risk of heart attack, stroke, kidney disease and eye problems
  • Male infertility problems
  • Supporting eye health, such as cutting the risk of cataracts as we age
  • It may also help prevent Parkinson's disease and cancer.

It's simply amazing how important this vitamin is to our bodies. There are a large variety of studies going on about this supplement, especially in the area of cancer. Vitamin-e can be found in a variety of dark green leafy vegetables, such as spinach, broccoli, chard and mustard greens. Vegetable and sunflower oils. Nuts and seeds such as peanuts, peanut butter, hazelnuts, sunflower seeds and almonds. Whole wheat flour, wheat germ or wheat germ oil. Also fruits such as apples, mangoes, apricots, nectarines and peaches.

A lot of us just don't eat enough to get the benefits of vitamin-e. We don't even reach our daily requirement of Vitamin-e. It's always a good idea to take a supplement especially as we age. A daily amount would be around 100 IU, that's on the low end to about 400 IU daily. Just a reminder, always check with your doctor before taking any new supplements. Otherwise, here's to your good health!
